Objectives

An important part of our country’s economy is based on the entrepreneurial initiative of self-employed workers. Men and women who make their dreams become business projects, who become self-employed and create jobs for other people. In Catalonia, the collective of self-employed workers is comprised of more than 500,000 people. Therefore, we can state that the enterprise which creates the most jobs in Catalonia is called “SELF-EMPLOYED WORKERS”.

The unprotected situation in which the self-employed workers carry out their entrepreneurial activity has been the centre of our organisation's demands. At the time, Autónomos PIMEC, with the support of an alliance strategy in Spain, had a significant influence on the legislative change which entails the approval by the State Parliament of Law 20/2007 of the Self-Employed Worker’s Statute and of all the norms which developed it, at a national and regional level. The most significant novelties are those derived from the social protection of self-employed workers, as well as those regarding incapacity and forced cessation of their activity.

Finally, but not less important, at Autónomos PIMEC we focus on providing services which increase the competitiveness of our members within the current economic situation.

Now, in time of crisis, the governments are aware of the importance of our collective, because self-employed workers are of great value, as they create wealth and, therefore, create jobs.

If we all come together, the voice of self-employed workers will be heard.

Our organisation has two main objectives. Firstly, we aim to defend the interests of self-employed workers before the government bodies and society in general. This is why we believe it is very important to build relations with a strong association of people and collectives, without this undermining the independent character which defines self-employed workers.

Secondly, and in order to increase competitiveness and business growth, we want to be facilitators for the business activity, providing tools and services to:

Manage their business in a more effective manner
Provide them with social and future coverage
Develop business management skills
Access the training they require
Use technological solutions as a springboard for consolidation and growth of their businesses. Internet, social networks and mobile technology are the great allies of today’s self-employed workers.

Lastly, we have set an objective for collaboration among self-employed workers. We are convinced that strategic alliances among entrepreneurs are the best commitment within the current global environment.
