The PIMEC Agroalimentaria division, despite being officially constituted, did not start to function officially until 2009.

It comprises a sector of great strategic and capital importance within the Catalonian economy. This has prompted the need to create a specific division, aiming to unite a sector which has always been quite dispersed. Under PIMEC’s protection, as the most representative corporate organisation, its task is to defend the sector’s small and medium-sized enterprises, open new communication channels with the administration and ensure these enterprises become more viable each day.

This is a young division, but due to the characteristics of the sector, it has an important future ahead. This encourages us to continue working to obtain improvements for this sector.

The main objective is to consolidate the industry-specific department as a point of reference for this sector, so that from this we can compile a unique knowledge base from which we can defend the sector’s interests.

Additionally, we aim to open new communication channels with the Administration and other agencies involved in this sector.

We intend to monitor closely any future legislation which could affect our small and medium-sized enterprises, ensuring they are as coherent as possible, and that the administrative bodies listen to us, consider our proposals and, consequently, to obtain more representation.

Lastly, to enable the division to function more effectively so that all members and future members can see their interests represented and their needs reflected.
